Department: ATHLETICS Specific Job Title: ASSISTANT COACH, MEN'S LACROSSE Job Summary: ASSISTANT COACH, MEN'S LACROSSE: Full time position. Assist the Head Coach with all duties and responsibilities related to the operation of a NCAA Division I lacrosse program. Duties will include, but are not limited to, coaching current members of the roster, recruiting prospective student-athletes, and performing administrative responsibilities related to successful program operation. Essential Functions:
Competencies Candidate will be experienced in a college athletics environment in which they mentor and develop wholistic student-athletes over the course of their playing and academic career. Must exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills and possess the ability to think independently within their job functions. Must be a self-starter with strong work ethic who is willing to problem solve and think analytically. Candidate should also be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) in addition to recruiting software (Jumpforward, ARMS) and film software (Scorebreak, Hudl, Hudl Sportscode). Teamworks experience is a plus. Supervisory Responsibility This position directly manages St. John's university lacrosse student-athletes and reports directly to the Men's Lacrosse Head Coach. Work Environment This position operates in a day-to-day professional office environment combined with an athletic environment that uses athletic facilities around the St. John's University Queens campus. The position will be required to use standard office equipment such as laptop computer, iPad, cell phone, printer/copier, and projector, among other things. Business-related travel by car, plane, and/or train and stays in hotels or other arrangements will also be required. Physical Demands A requisite level of physical fitness will be essential to perform the duties associated with this job. While performing duties of this job employees will be required to stand, walk, run, pick up heavy objects, and perform lacrosse-related skills including, but not limited to, catching, throwing, shooting, and cradling. Environmental Conditions This position will require outdoor work in the elements throughout the year including, but not limited to, heat, cold, rain, snow, and strong winds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position with work days/weeks of variable length dependent on time of year. Weekend work is expected, and hourly work days will vary based on practice times and other factors as set forth by the head coach. Long days will be expected around scrimmages, games, and peak recruiting periods with travel included. Travel Travel for scrimmages, games, and recruiting purposes will be required throughout the year. Trips will be located throughout the United States and, at times, internationally in Canada and abroad. Required Education and Experience:
