Position Summary:

Essential Functions:

• Provides consultation to the GSE community on most current academic course curriculum and plans of study.
• Assists in coordination and monitoring of academic advising system and student assignments.
• Assists in student on-boarding to include online/on-campus orientation, registration and training, as well as conducting Welcome Calls with students immediately upon enrollment.
• Assists in student enrollment in each semester.
• Provides students information and support, including appropriate resources/referrals and follow-up.
• Troubleshoots student support issues and coordinate solutions in accordance with all university policies, to include basic technical issues in the academic technology including the learning management system (LMS).
• Analyzes program and student data to estimate credit pacing, raw credit productions including intuitive reasoning to forecast appropriately
• Problem solves when faced with critical situations and determine when escalation is required.
• Communicates effectively in both written and verbal forms to university stakeholders, students and internally.
• Internally provides regular scheduled communications and program deliverables.
• Participates in coordination and implementation of a range of student activities such as orientation, professional development series, conferences, workshops, graduation, student advocacy, and other social/academic events.
• Provides Student Services training for faculty, administrators, staff, and the community.
• Ensures the accuracy and timely revision of all Student Services information and administrative materials including the GSE Student Handbooks, Blackboard community site, and Website.
• Oversees systems and processes for communication with students.
• Performs other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Strong customer service background is a plus.
• Ethical, sound judgment, detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, inclusive of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Clear professional written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate courteously, personally, tactfully, and concisely.
• Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills, with an attitude of enthusiasm, when working with students.
• Ability to function independently as well as part of a team and able to adapt to changes in priorities.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in education, teaching, counselor or related discipline.
• Minimum three (3) years of student service experience within an accredited graduate school of education.
• Experience in academic advising.
• Technical proficiency in specialized platforms such as DegreeWorks, Banner, Slate, and Blackboard.
