POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the Dean of Social Sciences, the Finance Budget Specialist will be responsible for completing a broad variety of administrative tasks related to budget for the School of Social Sciences and School of Business. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties may include, but will not be limited to:

• Supervising and Coordinating budgets for all departments in the School of Social Sciences
• Managing subscriptions, membership fees, invoices and reimbursements.
• Processing travel reimbursements
• Coordinating fundraising activities in the School of Social Sciences
• Preparing payment requests
• Preparing electronic personnel action forms for office staff and adjuncts
• Obtaining quotes for equipment, subscriptions, memberships, and consumables
• Tracking and following up with communication and correspondence.
• Contributing to effective office and company operations by performing other related duties as assigned.

It is expected that 70% of work will be conducted in-person in accordance with CUNY guidelines.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required

Preferred qualifications:

• Solid background in effective communication of logical thought processes and information- simply and concisely in person and in writing.
• Experience with finance modules (such as eProcurement and PeopleSoft/CUNYFirst) and other payment processing systems (such as QCF payment forms, RF payment forms, ePAF)
• Editing content to Queens College website (using WordPress)
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills; be able to deal with multiple assignments/projects with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.
• Motivated and enthusiastic self -starter with the ability to work well under pressure, take initiative, exercise sound judgment, discretion and tact in various situations, and solve problems creatively and diplomatically.
• Able to work effectively, collaboratively, and cooperatively with diverse staff and upper-level administrators.
• Proficiency in using Excel, other computer and software programs, and willingness to learn new systems.

Coordinates budget matters for a program or department under management direction.

• Plans and develops annual budgets under direction; administers allocation and reconciliation of funds
• Prepares budget analyses and produces forecasting projections
• Analyzes spending, income trends and usage to recommend improvements
• Ensures that final, approved budget is adhered to by tracking revenues and expenses; processes budget transfers and adjustments
• Provides fiscal reports and financial statements to management
• Supports supervisor with budget administration to meet department goals and objectives
• May supervise subordinate staff
• Performs related duties as assigned.
