Primary Responsibilities All tenure track faculty members teach the equivalent of 12 hours per semester and maintain an active scholarly work in their field. This position would include both undergraduate and graduate teaching in elementary education, early childhood education, or exceptional child education.
Required Qualifications
As a public regional university (with a graduate mission), Southeast seeks candidates with a commitment to excellent undergraduate (and graduate) education and student success within the framework of the teacher-scholar model. Applications of instructional technology and pedagogical research are supported through the Center for Scholarship in Teaching and Learning and the Office of Online Learning. Successful candidates will contribute to the development of innovative curricula and delivery strategies, including traditional, blended and online formats, and participate in initiatives promoting student success, retention and degree completion.

Departmental Information: The Educator Preparation Program at Southeast Missouri State University has an award-winning teacher preparation program that is Council for the Accreditation Educator Preparation (CAEP) accredited and approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The Department of Elementary, Early, and Special Education department offers undergraduate programs that are recognized by the Association for Childhood International (ACEI), the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. These programs lead to teaching certification in Elementary Education (grades 1 – 6), Early Childhood Education (Birth – 3rd grade) and Exceptional Child Education (K – 12). Additionally, online graduate programs are offered in Elementary and Special Education, including certificates in Reading Specialist, Math Specialist, Autism, and Early Childhood Special Education. The teacher preparation programs are experiential, field-based, with faculty actively involved in area PreK - 6 schools.
