Primary Responsibilities 

All RNTT faculty members teach the equivalent of 15 hours per semester and provide service to the university and department.  This position would primarily include instruction in the Exceptional Child and Education programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.   

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction (Exceptional Child Education, or Elementary Education, or Middle School Education, or Secondary Education), Teacher Leadership, Educational Leadership, or a related field; degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university
• Teaching certification in Mild Moderate Cross Categorical, K – 12
• Teaching certification in Elementary Education, Middle School Education or Secondary Education
• Minimum of five years full time teaching or supervision experience, which must include K – 12 Special Education
• Demonstrated experience or knowledge with assessment, data analysis and school data teams
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of using technology for productivity and instruction
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development in exceptional child education, elementary education, or middle school/secondary education
• Awareness of educator preparation standards and current trends in educator preparation
• Demonstrated experience and evidence of mentoring / coaching skills
• Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships between the university and P-12 school partners
• Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community and P-12 partners
• Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities

Departmental Information:  The Educator Preparation Program at Southeast Missouri State University has an award-winning teacher preparation program that is CAEP (formerly NCATE) accredited and approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  The Elementary, Early, and Special Education department offers undergraduate programs that are recognized by the Association for Childhood International (ACEI), the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary.  These programs lead to teaching certification in Elementary Education (grades 1 – 6), Early Childhood Education (Birth – 3^rd grade) and Exceptional Child Education (K – 12).  Additionally, online graduate programs are offered in Exceptional Child Education, Elementary Education, and certificate course work in Reading Specialist, Math Specialist, Autism, and Early Childhood Special Education.  The educator preparation programs are experiential, field-based, with faculty actively involved in area PreK - 12 schools and agencies.
