Posted: 20-May-22 Location: New York, New York Salary: Open Internal Number: 21501 Responsibilities: The Tishman Environment and Design Center is a university-wide center housed at The New School in New York City that brings an interdisciplinary and environmental justice (EJ) approach to contemporary environmental challenges. The Center's mission is to integrate bold design, policy, and social justice approaches to tackle the climate crisis and advance environmental justice. The Center provides technical, research, and movement building support to the climate and environmental justice movements. We do this through collaborative partnerships grounded in the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing using community-based participatory research and critical action-oriented research methods We are seeking a seasoned, organized, and detail-oriented Special Projects Manager who will report directly to the Managing Director. The Special Projects Manager will provide administrative, operational and logistical support to a variety of projects undertaken by the Tishman Center that relate to climate change and environmental justice. 50% of the Special Project Managers time will be spent on a research project supporting the New York City Panel on Climate Change (NPCC) specifically on an analysis of the climate vulnerability, impact and adaptation.. This is a full-time position based in New York City. The Manager will be a part of a hybrid team made up of staff and faculty located in New York City and remotely nationwide and should be comfortable working with a diverse range of working and communication styles. This position will be based at the New York City campus of The New School University. Currently, the position is remote but this person will need to be available for local in-person meetings and events when appropriate/necessary. This person should be comfortable and prepared to work virtually with a remote team. It is essential to have excellent communications skills and the ability to strategize and manage multi-layer processes.
