Position: Research Scientist: The Vocal Control and Vocal Well-Being Lab in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences in the School of Health Professions at the University of Missouri ( https://healthprofessions.missouri.edu/speech-language-and-hearing-sciences/ ) has an opening for a research scientist with an immediate start date.

Setting: The University of Missouri is an AAU, Carnegie RU/VH Research University located in Columbia, a mid-size city consistently ranked high in surveys of livability.

Primary Activities: The research scientist will work on the NIDCD-funded R01 project "Neurobiological and psychobiological signatures of vocal effort in early career teachers." This innovative project will determine neural (fMRI), psychobiological (salivary cortisol, personality), and vocal function (sEMG, acoustic) signatures of stress responders and nonresponders in early career teachers with vocal fatigue and controls. Primary responsibilities will include recruitment; scheduling; psychometric, voice, sEMG, fMRI, and cortisol data collection; selected data analysis; and management of study materials and data. The research scientist will be trained in the responsible conduct of research and in methods related to the project. In addition, the research scientist will train, supervise, and mentor undergraduate and graduate research assistants. The candidate will ensure compliance with IRB regulations and will complete amendments, personnel change forms, and continuing reviews. Further, the research scientist will complete clinical trial regulatory documents. The candidate will be involved in manuscript preparation.

Applicants should have a Master's or Ph.D. in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences or a related field with an interest or emphasis in voice science and voice disorders. Clinical certification (CCC-SLP) is preferred but prior experience in neuroimaging and other study techniques is not required. The candidate should remain flexible during times of peak work load.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with qualifications of the applicant. Minimum compensation: $47,476.00 annually
